Event of the year: GJW Direct SailJuice Winter Series

"Inspiring hundreds to keep sailing through the coldest and wildest months of the year, the fifth season of the GJW Direct SailJuice Winter Series saw a total of 835 boats from 95 different classes competing over eight big winter handicap events.

Two brand new fixtures, the Datchet Flyer and the Oxford Blue, joined classic favourites such as the Bloody Mary and the Tiger Trophy in a series which ran over selected weekends between November to February. Open to monohull dinghies ranging from Toppers to 49ers, with four out of eight events counting towards the overall Winter Series results, this is fast becoming a must-do on the calendar of many an ambitious dinghy sailor.

Rather than be put off by the chilly winter weather, many sailors see this unique series as an unmissable opportunity for big wind sailing and an unrivalled chance to gain top level, big fleet experience. The result is superb, close racing that once again in 2014 came right down to the wire.

Additional benefits come in the form of some great sponsor support, seamless online results service provided by the organisers, plus GPS tracking, analysis and live updates now available at several of the events."
